WELCOME TO THE CRASTA LAB
GENOMIC INSTABILITY AND STRESS RESPONSE
DISCOVERY IS OUR BUSINESS.
As cell biologists, we are driven by our curiosity to uncover intricate cellular pathways crucial for ensuring the healthy state of the human body. We seek to understand how these intrinsic cellular mechanisms impinge on the external millieu. Very often, aberrations in cellular pathways drive microenvironmental changes to cause disease. Work published from our lab has demonstrated how cancer cells take advantage of mitotic errors and structural variations for tumour development and therapy resistance via stress response pathways and an altered tumour secretome. To delve deep into solving these scientific mysteries, we routinely utilize cell lines, mouse models, and patient samples with a spectrum of tools from high-resolution microscopy to single-cell transcriptomics. In this way, we gain insights into adaptation to cellular stressors and pathways of tumour evolution in cancer, in the hope of finding novel, clinically-applicable targets and translating our discoveries.
